The heart is one of the most important organs in your body.Your heart pumps blood all around your body. Your rib cage protects your heart.  The heart is made of four different chambers. The heart is important because it pumps blood around your body, delivering oxygen and nutrients to your cells and removing waste products. ... There are valves between the atria and ventricles that make sure blood flows in one direction through your heart.Your heart is sort of like a pump, or two pumps in one. The right side of your heart receives blood from the body and pumps it to the lungs.
